Sleestak Sandwich Sunday

Gothridge Manor features a sandwich that looks like a Sleestak for their "Sleestak Sunday" entry. I feature Sleestak about to cut a sandwich:
Sleestak and Marty Krofft at Subway sandwich cutting
It's a Tussssscan Chicken Sandwich, of course, at Subway, from a few years ago. Marty Krofft is on the right. Subway doesn't feature the Tuscan Chicken Sandwich anymore, but Rachel Ray tells you how to make one at home [click here].

Below you will see one of the better things to come out of the "Land of the Lost" movie from 2009:
Addendum: If you want higher class Tuscan fare, without monsters, you might want to try the Tuscan Bistro when you are in Leelanau County

"Located in Traverse City, Michigan, Tuscan Bistro has a dedication to fresh, seasonal ingredients, excellent service, and a casual atmosphere. Our bright interior is anchored by a cozy bar and outdoor seating beckons on warm summer days.  Simply put, this Italian Restaurant has the finest Italian cuisine in Northern Michigan."

At least I am pretty sure it is without monsters. The most famous Sleestak of all, Bill Laimbeer, has been in the area, and there is a chance he has gone to the Tuscan Bistro for sssssssupper.

Sleestak appear to prefer a diet of pork and moths. Sorry, Bill, the Tuscan Bistro does not have moth on the menu.

I think that might be the only good thing to have come out of that movie! I recall seeing it and it was a great little commercial.

I like the Sleestak sandwich and the pic of the Sleestak cutting the Tuscan Chicken sandwich. Wow. Marty Krofft is getting old! Oh, crap... me too.

If the civil war guy from Land of the Lost is to be believed, I get you could crack open those Sleestak claw hands and find something like lobster-meat inside. Another idea for a $5 footlong!

From your other postings of Sleestaks, I hadn't pictured them this big and scary-looking. Guess I should stay away from Subway.

PJ: As cheesy as the effects look today, the Krofft brothers had a high budget for the mid 1970s "Land of the Lost", and tried to make the best use of it. They hired Michael Westmore to do the masks. Westmore did a little with the old "Star Trek", and later went on to do most of the alien designs for all the later "Star Trek".

They wanted the Sleestak to be tall. So the chose the tallest people readily available: college basketball players in LA. They gave them platform shoes as well. One of them was a guy named Bill Laimbeer, who achieved great fame years later.

The movie Sleestak (2009), seen in the photo, are more refined looking, and probably shorter than the ones in the show. The movie was terrible in most aspects, but the Sleestak costumes turned out well.

So it is true that Sleestak tastes like chicken.

Sleestak may have issues but if they are into Tuscan Chicken sandwiches they can't be all bad.

The 2009 Land of the Lost movie came close to being funny... until it got REALLY dumb at the end. What a disappointment. I think I may have seen some episodes of the TV series as a child, but I can barely remember. It also looks quite dumb though. What's with you obsession with this cheesy TV series?

WD: You are one of the few who saw that movie. I watched it and tried to enjoy it, and laughed a few times. I think the "Chorizo Taco" joke was the best bit.

But it was a huge disappointment, especially compared to some of the earlier attempts to get it made. It's one of my favorite old TV shows.

As for "It also looks quite dumb though", if you hated the old Star Trek, you would have probably hated the best LOTL episodes. If you liked the old Star Trek, you would have liked it.
